U.S. Bank Visa Platinum Again Extends 0% Intro APR to 20 Months

The U.S. Bank Visa® Platinum Card is now offering an intro 0% APR for 20 billing cycles on purchases and balance transfers, and then the ongoing APR of 14.99% – 24.99% Variable APR. That’s two months longer than the card’s previous offer of 18 months on both purchases and balance transfers, which was already one of the lengthiest around. In fact, the U.S. Bank Visa® Platinum Card had already won NerdWallet’s 2020 award for Best 0% Intro APR Credit Card even before the change.
The card’s balance transfer fee remains the same: 3% of the amount transferred or $5, whichever is greater. It doesn’t earn rewards, but it does offer the relatively rare perk of cell phone insurance. And its annual fee is also still $0.
You can find longer periods for balance transfers. For instance, the $0-annual-fee Citi Simplicity® Card – No Late Fees Ever offers an intro 0% on Balance Transfers for 21 months and 0% on Purchases for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 15.74% – 25.74% Variable APR. But it has a higher balance transfer fee: 5% of the amount transferred or $5, whichever is greater. And its 0% intro APR period for purchases is much shorter.
