We’ve reached the point where flights are now less expensive than some of the Uber rides to the airport. Discount carrier Frontier Airlines has a massive sale on their already-cheap flights, offering a 90% discount on many nonstop routes if you purchase by March 16, 2020.
We did some flight searches through the sale, and although the discount doesn’t seem quite as drastic as advertised, there are still some great deals lurking around. Remember that Frontier fares don’t include overhead carry-on bags or seat selection, so your sale fare could increase with these added fees.
On top of this discount, travelers who book a flight through March 31, 2020, have the option to make a one-time change or cancel their flights by phone without a fee. Many airlines have eased their policies on change and cancellation fees amid uncertainty around the coronavirus outbreak.
Here’s what you should know to book the deal.
Flights that qualify for the discount
The good news is that this sale is available on a wide range of flights and dates. Here are some of the limitations to keep in mind:
Flights must be nonstop and round trip to a Frontier destination in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
Valid for travel Monday through Thursday, and Saturday, from now through April 22, 2020.
Blackout dates are April 2, 4, 11, 2020.
Flights must be purchased at least three days in advance.
Flights between Denver and Orlando or Denver and Pensacola aren’t eligible for the discount.
Some deals we found
It’ll cost less than $60 to get to Las Vegas from Chicago when you fly Frontier and use this deal. Without the promo code, the same flights would cost $133.80.
Flights from Cleveland to Orlando are usually in the $90 to $285 range, according to Google Flights. We found round-trip flights on Frontier for $60.10.
You could save over $100 off Google Flight’s noted regular prices on flights from Washington, D.C., to Denver. Frontier flights using the promo code were in the low $70 range.
How to book
Search for flights on Frontier’s website or call Frontier and use the promo code SAVE90.
Book by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 16, 2020.
The bottom line
Like many airlines, Frontier is faced with dropping demand for air travel amid the fast-changing coronavirus outbreak. In this case, the airline’s change and cancellation policy is flexible enough to allow you to re-book your trip.
Keep in mind the 90% discount applies only to the base fare, not taxes or fees — and Frontier also tacks on extra fees for overhead and checked baggage.
