Cruise The Cape Town Coastline With Tigger 2

I was recently given the opportunity to enjoy a sunset cruise with Tigger 2 Charters, and boy was it a fabulous experience. So much so that I feel obliged to share it with all of you so that you too can hop on board this luxury catamaran, feel the cool salty sea air of the Atlantic on your face and enjoy a sunset view like no other.

We arrived at the pier in the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town and were offered a comfy seat while we waited to board the Tigger 2. When the boat and crew were ready, we stepped inside and were greeted with an ice-cold glass of champagne, much to my delight, and were told we could choose where we preferred to sit for the cruise.

Most passengers chose the front of the boat, but we headed up to the sheltered upper deck, which provided a barrier from the wind but still allowed us to enjoy uninterrupted views. My husband and I took a seat, sipped champagne and watched the faces in the Waterfront staring out at the boats coming and going in the working harbour of the V & A.

It wasn’t long before we set off and the sun was already starting to dip down. The Tigger 2 took us out into Table Bay where the views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Devil’s Peak and Signal Hill were beyond sensational. From there on, I watched the coastline as we moved past the impressive Cape Town Stadium in Green Point and headed towards Camps Bay.

The water was a little choppy and it was slightly breezy, but it was not at all unpleasant; quite the opposite, actually. There were a few people on the upper deck with us and there was music playing, which created a lovely atmosphere.

When we got to Camps Bay, the sun was setting nicely on the horizon and we could see the beach-goers making the most of the final rays of sun for the day. The boat stopped for a little while, allowing us a moment to admire the orange glow dipping into the ocean.

They have a bar on board so, when we finished our glass of champagne, we ordered a sundowner and made the most of the glorious sunset. I must say; this is an incredibly romantic cruise and is definitely a great, memorable way to spoil the love of your life!

Once the sun was almost completely gone, the engines started up again and we headed back toward the harbour. As it got darker, the city lights of streets and buildings came on and it was like seeing a totally different coastline. It was so insanely gorgeous, especially as we entered Table Bay and saw the big wheel at the V & A with its lights on.

A few curious seals graced us with their presence on the way back… To be honest, I was secretly hoping for significantly larger marine life to pop out and say hello; but it’s not quite the right season, so that was wishful thinking.

Nevertheless, this is, by far, one of the greatest things to do in Cape Town (in my opinion). By the time we got back to the harbour, it was totally dark and the view of the restaurant lights and those of the shopping centre were quite pretty.

The cruise was about an hour and a half long in total so it’s easy to prebook a table for dinner at one of the many restaurants in the Waterfront. If you land up only choosing a spot to eat after the cruise, there is plenty of entertainment at the outdoor amphitheatre while you wait for your table. The Waterfront is always buzzing with people, shops and entertainment.
